Yea well compared to my time using 1.45.7 my new time stinks! Before I got about 12:30 and yesterday when I tested it with 1.46 I got over 25 minutes!
I don't draw any conclusions from that though since the scene was created for 1.09. But I wonder why it more than doubled from 1.45 to 1.46.

Yea thats the thing. I didn't touch anything - just hit the render button.
I wouldn't be a real benchmark if everybody was changing all their materials and settings would it?

but you are using a newer version of vray ... who's to say what material update's have gone on ! or Qmc ... just saying

yea I know, thats why I'm not freaking out about it. With a scene I'm working on now, render times are about the same from last version to this one. The only thing though is that lightmaps are definitely slower, but thats another topic.

I thin kit's good to start a new thread for the vray 1.46.04 version, because comparing the same file with previous versions is useless.
Dual XEON Foster Boxed 2.8 GHz 512KB FSB533
Corsair 1024MB DDR333 ECC REG Low PCB
Win XP
Max5
Vray 1.46.04
Rendertime without any change of settings:
35m30s
With glossies for the pillar material set to 4 instead of 12 and QMC GI subdivs to 8 instead of 11:
10m21s
I know some default settings have changed in new verions, but I have no clue what parameters should be changed to match the old speed... Maybe someone can point out these differences.
Regards,
wouter
