    hi everybody:

i ve been wondering if it s possible to transform displacment into geometry
    lookin forward for any thoughts...

not sure if it s understandable...

    Use a Displace modifier.

    Best regards,
    Vlado

        use a displace modifier

        explain yourself better

no you cant convert the vray Displace mod to a mesh .... only with max displace you can do that ... because vray doesnt it @ render time.... not viewport ...

              Hi there,

I think his question was quite clear !

It would be a nice addition
because you can´t do procedural 3d displacement with the standard displacement mod wich is in my opinion the major advantage of the
vray displacement mod (next to high detail).
Another advantage would be, that you could use it as a reference.

For example. I build some nice rocks using vray displacement mod
and now I would like to add some grass and flowers to this geometry....
.. hmm nearly impossible if you don´t shift and rerender every flower
(or whatever) several times until it´s at the desired location.

I think to remember a reply from one of the developers.. some time ago
(please correct me if this is wrong)
that vray displacement internal is handled similar to a vray proxy...
              or something like that...
If it is like that.. can´t it just be saved like a regular vray proxy ?

Ah yes.. and it would also lower the rendertimes because the displaced
geometry doesn´t has to be created any frame from scratch
(don´t know if there is allready and inbuild optimisation for that)

of course this would just work with view independant displacement.

Would be a nice feature.. in the future if nothing else is left to implement
