  • Help With Some Questions

Guys any help would be apprceated
    1. After getting my code for thr new vray build 1.46.05 i enter it into the
VRLServer. Then inside max i went into the render dialog box and it wanted me to enter either a ip address or a computer name. I gave it my computer name and after re-starting i could get into the render options of vray. Is that it ? Is that all i have to do.

    2. Now for the render farm, Do i just install vray onto each render slave and thats it. No other configurations needed?

    3. Im running a dual xeon 2.6 with 4.0 gig or ram and it seems this build is running VERY slow compared to 10903r.

    1) Yes
    2) Yes
    3) A lot has changed from 1.09 to the 1.4X series. Certain settings (most notabley subdivisions in most features) can result in the same quality with lower settings. Keeping them at the same settings as in 1.09 will result in longer rendertimes.

hey guys what am i missing here! Im running a Dual xeon 2.6 with 4 gig of ram and this build of 1.46.05 is running extremley slow. Even test renders with low setting are takeing FOREVER. Lightmap,Photons,IR at 320 x 240 at very low settings are way slower than in 1.09 is this the case? Or do i need to re learn what to do all over again. Dynedain even with lower subdivisions its still slower. Any help guys would be appreciated.

I just updated to the latest beta, and I have to confirm, it "feels" slower than 1.09...But since I am pretty new to v-ray, althought I have been playing with it at the office for awhile now, I believe it is mostly matter of re-learning the settings, to optimize performances.

Also, remember these are betas. The actual release might be a bit more polished, performance wise...

        regards,
