is there any investigation going on to solve this problem?

i know from postings here that at least 3 other user having the same problem.

    reminder:

the vray scene file that is copied to the slave network directory is 0 bytes.
makes the vray slaves respawn in a endless loop.

not sure about this one but, I got something esle happening, while Im working and rendering using 10 boxes for dr, after some time they start to crap out and in the vray message window it says server failed...after more time all of the boxes fail one after another. Unless I restart vrayspawner it wont comeback...

            Hi Long John !

Is it what you mean Long John ?
Here is the problem I have on one of my 3 computers.
            More clearly, the VraySpawner text:

            0: [2004/Nov/24|17:27:27] ========================== Starting new session ==========================

            15: [2004/Nov/24|17:27:45] ========================== Ending session ==========================

NB the inverse "/" is not copied here but it exists: "C:/Program Files/3D/3DS......"

Max is launched endless. Not really funny !

I had the problem with Max5 and Vray 1.09 xxx on that machine. I first thought that there were a conflict with the former version...
            I don't understand.
            For information, I use XP
            Bye !

I think I may have found something... Take a look at this:

              from Max.log

              2004/11/24 15:34:16 DBG: Starting network
              2004/11/24 15:34:16 INF: Loaded C:3dsmax6
              etworkvraydummy60.max
              2004/11/24 15:34:16 INF: Job: C:3dsmax6
              etworkvraydummy60.max
2004/11/24 15:34:16 INF: Starting network rendering
2004/11/24 15:34:16 INF: Max is ready to begin render
              2004/11/24 15:35:16 INF: Loaded C:3dsmax6\networkvray_server_scene.max
              2004/11/24 15:35:16 ERR: File Open Failed: C:3dsmax6\networkvray_server_scene.max
2004/11/24 15:35:16 ERR: An unexpected exception has occurred in the network renderer and it is terminating.

Do you see that line that says, "C:3dsmax6\networkvray_server_scene.max"?

Do you think that the path might just be invalid? I don't know how to fix this problem because it's not referring to some file I can change.

              Hope this helps!

i can tell you that, on our systems, it´s not a path problem nor is it a network problem.

What do you see in the Max.log file inside your max network directory?

i think you speak about the double slashes in your path?
that should be no problem as it is the same on slaves where DR works.

the problem is that the transfered scene file is 0 bytes on some systems.

all network paths are ok, we can render the same scenes with fR, backburner or banshee without a single problem.

this problem has nothing to do with wrong image paths or missing plugins.

Yes, I was talking about the double slashes. I can't render on any of the five machines that I have set up for DR. It's never actually worked for me. So, I've never had a chance to compare it to a machine that does work. Thanks for confirming this. It just seemed funny that the path in the file was the only one that looked odd and right after that you see the "Can't open file" message. I'd love to see the Max.log file of a DR that did work.

It would seem to me that there is a problem with getting the scene file. I've checked and it's not locked and I'm able to locate and access the file just fine from those machines. I don't know what to say.

                        Good morning !

I've tested backburner with standard Max renderer, and on my bad machine, Max could not load the scene too !
So Vray is not the problem, here for me...

The problem is outhere, I need Mulder and Scully !!!!!

I'm going to format and reinstall this computer!
Of course, it is a computer with a lot of softwares.Maybe one of the cause.

I just want to add that when the DR or Backburner work on good
computers, it is very very great. The tests I did were very good without
problem, great job Vlado and the team.

                        Bye

after install 1.46.06, the only machine wich had Dr working stops to works, so i came back to 1.46.05 and it back to work. The problem here is taht i ahve two machines, the first one with 2 gb and the second one with 1 gb ram. when i try to work from teh stronger machine, Dr cant works properly so, i have to keep working from the bad machine just because itis the only one wich can make DR works. Thats really odd...

                            Hi all!
I've re installe the "brokedown" machine, and well, now it works.
                            It's clean.
I've tested the same scenes and discovered that all 3 computers were
no longer able to work on the biggest scene as it did before...
                            A scene with a 125 Mo photon map.I suppose I don't have enough
Ram on both server computers and the client crashes.

Nevertheless, Dr works with simple scenes and Backburner too.
So we are on the good way...

I've to installe other softwares and hope that won't disturb the computer
I have to do that on.

                            Wait and see!
                            Bye

i hope it will work for you.

but we have installed max 2 times on the systems that does not work with DR and had no luck.

i hope this problem will be fixed soon.
