  • Merging gbuffer layers, incorrect display

I have been playing with the vray VFB channel export, and after merging them in dfusion i dont get the same results as the RGB render in max, is there something wrong with it? doesnt tone mapping affect to the separated channels?

Notice how it looks the same in the shadowed area of the comp as in the original. Have you tried placing the lighting pass at a higher level?

Don't use Screen, use Add or Linear dodge.

            Hey Torgeir,

I was thinking it may be something like that. Should we only use that mode for the lighting pass?

            Thanks,

single setup (change te gbuffer save to c: instead of d: if you dont have a writable unit)

Most of the channels are additive (reflection, lighting, specular etc.)and none of them are supposed to be used with screen mode. In most compositing programs you should use Add, but in Photoshop you need to use Linear Dodge which is supposed to be the same as add (PS doesn't have add as a blending mode for layers)
