  • Rendering single frame through backburner

    Hey all.

I'm trying to send a scene to one of our nodes to render a full res still (all locally, not attempting to have it distribute). Used to do this all the time with Max4 and 1.09, now we're on Max6 and 1.46.10.

Anyway, I set everything up -- did a test render on my machine, and it renders fine -- send it off to the lone node through Net Render. The node opens the file, runs through processing, says it's rendering, and then before any buckets appear the max session shuts down and the manager reports the job has been completed.

The only thing that I could imagine causing this were if I had "Don't render final image" checked off in the V-Ray globals. But I don't, and I checked again. Any ideas what could be causing this?

    Thanks guys.

Not a clue, but we've run into something similar.. Either closing/restarting max fixed it.. (Rarely) or merging it into an empty scene fixed it.. (every time i beleive)

This was an occurrance of rendering locally though, where the render wouldn't start at all, i wasn't trying backburner at all

I have to run a test with a simple scene to see if it's an error not related to the scene I'm trying to send. Probably should have already tried that, but I'm pushing another 14-hour day in the office and my brain's not working so well.

We're generating a boatload of errors with 1.46.10. This is the first job we've done with the beta, and as with any new software there are always new problems to work around. Initially things were working fine, but as I've fleshed out the scene and added more reflective materials I'm getting exception errors when I render that it's not able to calculate the HDRI environment material. The lighting is unaffected, but I'm not sure the materials are reflecting the HDRI anymore.

I'll try merging into a new scene, that's a good thought.

I'll have to compile a list of glitches, error messages, and hopefully a scene file to send Vlado. I'm sure his hands are more than full, but with any luck some of these errors can be resolved in future releases.
