  • Material warnings

Hi I got a warning about a normal bump map (#map45) and for another material named "example" in a project.
How can i find those materials in my scene though to fix em? I searched in scene slot manually and couldnt find any "example" name and no idea how to search for that specific map that is somwhere in a bump slot. Sorry not strictly vray question maybe i should head to autodesk forums for this?
    Thanks

3dsMax doesn't have a good tool for finding specific material or texture nodes.
As a start run V-Ray Scene Converter tool, sometimes it fixes such type of issues:

Can you show us the exact log message from V-Ray Messages window?

I've recently had this problem on the last big project I did and it's a mega pain (especially when you have merged 3d models from turbosquid, evermotion etc etc).

In my experience it requires close inspection of the warning messages *around* your specific warning message, and if you're lucky to see some of the warning messages either before or after the one you are specifically concentrating on, to see if they give you some clues.

If you're lucky and you are given the texture bitmap name (in those other messages), for e.g. example.jpg, what I have then is use K-Studio's FilePathPro script to select that bitmap, and use FilePathPro's ability to put that bitmap's material into the Material Editor for you (in my experience, it is the only script that I know that can do this - and I have searched a LOT on this subject).

The AD Material / Map Browser sometimes finds things, sometimes it doesn't.

And yes, the Scene converter is one of the first things you should try and use because it will eradicate a lot of your warning message problems.

Thank u Jez very much. A friend mentioned tha KStudio script yesterday and i m gonna get it seems like very good for many things.
Max is so shitty, that cant even find a material with a specific name in its search on material editor, i mean its beyond unacceptable
thanks a lot for ur reply
