  • Vray 1.46.10 Guide(for vlado or tisho)

I'm trying to use vray 1.46.10 And i find my self guessing the settings
    to reduce time
I've read that Vlado said the new build default settings is twice higher then the 1.09.03 default settings.
Could somone from Chaos please post a sticky post and explain to all of us How do we reduce the settings to get the same result as the 1.09.03
There seems to be a lot of posts about it and i can only find a few suggestion from users who tried somthing and it worked for them..
So please Vlado or tisho , if you read this , post somthing that we'll know what we are doing...

I've noticed that the new build is very slow on the sec bounce calc when using qmc .. how can i reduce its settings but still get good resualt like direct comp on the 1.09.03 build?

I know that i have to play around but i would like to know what are the settings eqeal to the folowing one when using 1.09.03
    irr map preset - high
    hsub 50
    iterp 20
    sec bounce - direct 1 , 3

    thank you

I was originally hoping for the same thing, but I don't think you'll get exactly what you are looking for a few reasons.

#1, this topic has been covered numerous times. It would be nice if they were all in one place, but that's difficult in an active forum format - especially one discussing ever changing beta versions.

#2, there are so many variables, you simply can't come up with a "one size fits all". Besides the vray variables, and viz settings, there are differences between interiors and exteriors, standard lights and vray lights, many different GI methods, etc....

That said, I'd recommend reading this thread 6 or 7 times:
        http://www.chaoticdimension.com/foru...pic.php?t=9274

Then, go thru an associated tutorial vlado put together:
        http://www.vrayrender.com/stuff/flip...l/flipside.htm

Also, the online manual is here:
        http://www.vrayrender.com/slogin/cu/...beta/index.htm
A bit tedious at times, but well worth the reading. For me, things are often foggy as I read them, but after reading a few times, the settings make a little more sense when I see them.

I know this isn't the reply you were hoping for (I've been there too!), but hopefully it will help.

Percy .. You can join my call for vlado and tisho

CCs - thank you for your reply and those are great links you've givven me
I think that he new build is a much more complicated and we have to spend more and more time on settings that were much easier and faster on the 1.09.03 build.

I'm still reading those posts (6-7 times) and will give it a try.
I think that there should be some kind of guide on a sticky post that we'll explain in simple words what each parameter is good for + recommanded settings for good quality /speed.
I've renderd a lot of animation (720*576) and for all of them i've used medium animation preset for irr map
          direct comp for sec bounce
and all of them turned out fast and good
all i want is the same way using the new build with same time/quality
          Best regards

I agree Gili. There are so many parameters, it is very easy to get lost. I think it is probably a good thing though ultimately - it's just that I'm a long way from understanding it all.

What is difficult for me is grasping how all these settings interact. What I really appreciate is seeing a scene rendered many different ways, with the only thing changing between them being several variations on a single parameter. Then you go on to the next parameter. There was a bit of this in the 1.09 vray help.

i'm currently working on an indoor animation with the new build
I've noticed that irr map settings -4,-3 with 25 hsubdiv
              qmc for sec (default)
              is producing realy good results
              does it make sense?
I used to do -3,-1 for animation with 1.09.03
