  • URGENT! lighcache not loading.. need to send to farm today

ive got an rt gpu scene.

im loading it in vray adv and calculating a flythrough lightcache (it doesnt work in rt gpu)

then reloading with rt gpu and choosing "from file" for the lightcache i generated. it has worked fine until now.

just as i need to urgently submit multiple scenes to farm, when i render i get a render as if there is no lightcache present.

what on earth could it be?!

ive tried recalculating the lightcache twice.. no change.

Hi, can you post and image of your GI settings for caching?

its all vray default adv settings, apart from lightcache set to flythrough with 3500 subdivs, and "dont render final image" ticked..

i can see lightcache is being generated as usual , it looks fine in render window.. ( note, due to a bug in 3.6, im having to calculate flyrthrough LC in 3.5)

        then rendering in 3.6.

however this setup has workedwithout issue 10 times in the last month..

ok i think i have resolved it.. user error!

a while back i tested to see if the standard max depth fog worked in rt gpu.. it didnt.. but since it had no effect i forgot it was on..

when calculating the lightcache in ADV, it obviously worked, and blocked all the light from the sun!

          phew.

Hm ok, is this for primary or secondary GI? It helps sometimes to switch to scanline and back to vray to reset your settings in case something got stuck or was switched accidentally.
Additionally instead of flythrough you could try a single frame set to 'use camera path' instead for the cache calculations. The frame ranges are correct though and the set isn't moving in world space is it?
