  • Number padding other than 4 in max.

Dumb question, I'm pretty tired and couldn't find an answer through google or max help.
But can you set file number padding in max. Have never needed to in 20 years, but a client just asked for 5 digits in output padding.
Is it possible I have missed something simple?

    Thanks

if you have after effects/premiere it will let you specify the number padding in the file output dialog. alternatively there`s an old app i still use called..upstart renamer. it`s obsolete now and has some issues with newer OS but still works and you can rename and change number padding. there`s probably a newer equivalent somewhere.

      Thanks Anthony.
Yeah, wanted to avoid renaming as it is a fair number of scenes and a fair number of passes per scene. Plus at the end max files are being handed over.
Odd because back in the day in combustion it was just in the render dialog, specify padding amount. You'd think they could add it to Max.

ok, it`s not a perfect solution but you can set the `file number base` (under range in common parameters) set that to 10000 and your sequence will render from 10000 onwards where 10000 is frame 0 giving you 5 digits.

I think it's doable if you use the V-Ray raw image output using the # characters to specify where and how many digits to put, but I need to check this.

i wonder if there`s anything you can change in any of the `.ini` files to change it.?

              Thanks for the ideas guys.
Originally I thought it was in the ini. It was something I felt like I had seen in there before, but couldn't find anything.
For now just ignoring the request. We'll see if it is crucial in any way before going renaming routes.
