  • vrscene compatibility?

I know there's simultaneous development on all platforms and its difficult to track, but is there a chart listing cross-compatibility in regards to .vrscene files?

Vray 3.6|Max, Vray Maya, Vray 3.5|Revit, Vray 3.4 |Rhino, VraySwarm 1.4.1, Vray Standalone, etc

For example, if I export a vrscene out of Vray 3.4 Rhino, can it render with Vray Standalone? What features are incompatible?

I guess this also applies to my previous posts about vrmats file, I wind up just remaking the materials from the default bitmaps, but that defeats the purpose of have transportable format if it only works within native application.

    Its getting there.

    Thanks

.vrscenes exported from all products except 3dsMax should render absolutely the same in V-Ray Standalone.
Of course you will need the same or newer version of the Standalone that the ones that comes with V-Ray for Rhino installation, in case of using an older version you should know that this might cause discrepancies between UI and Standalone rendering.

Regarding .vrscenes exported from 3dsMax. In 3dsMax we are allowed to render 3dsMax features from the interface but when it comes to export that data to a .vrscene files we are not.
That's why scenes that uses some specific 3dsMax features like procedural textures and etc might not render the same way in V-Ray Standalone. For the most commonly used features we have written V-Ray version of it, but not all 3dsMax features have V-Ray alternatives.

For 3ds Max specifically, a list of features supported in .vrscene files can be found here:
      https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/...orted+Features

The page is for V-Ray RT, but essentially it describes what features can be translated to .vrscene files too.
