  • VRay Fur Styler

    Two simple questions:

A: Why is VRay Fur Styler not shipped with VRay by default?
B: When will the fur styler 2018 be plugin available?

    Curiousity.... (source)

I will recompile it in a couple of days. The reason it is not included with the installation is that it is a very hacky way of doing the job and I wouldn't really want something like this to be officially endorsed. At the same time, we don't have the resources to develop a more complete and proper fur styling solution.

    Best regards,
    Vlado

Pity, I would really love it if vray fur could read splines as guides.
We could then use a tool like fur guide painter from Clovis. http://hocuspocus-studio.fr/tools/pr...uides-painter/

Nice this tool from Clovis. I would have like to know about it before I bought Ornatrix. But now that I bought it I love it. I also love the new fur toolset in houdini. A solution is also to buy houdini indie do the combing there and export the hair to max and render with with hair and fur. But ornatrix is a bit faster to comb and you don't need any exporting. I will check that tool from clovis more in depth to compare. A big plus for houdini is you need to simulate and animate the fur, it seems like the best solution.

Honestly it is a great tool, bought it for my current project, and was so quick to get styling done. Used it with hair and fur, but would be great to be able to do vrayfur in the same way.
I believe Ornatrix is very good, but I don't do enough hair/fur to justify it just yet.

Hey Strob, is it quite stable simulating/animating the fur in Houdini. Ornatrix is just absolutely terrible at it I find (we have Ornatrix 4). It works absolutely fine in preview mode but as soon as you press bake animation (in massFX) it takes about 49,500,857 hours to bake :P
