Dongle Upgrade

I have an old dongle license, which is probably 10 years old. Can I upgrade? If so, what would it cost me? I installed Bootcamp and Windows 10 on my 2017 15" MBP and I want to run MAX with V-Ray for some small things while away from the office. I don't want the dongle because the MBP doesn't have UBS ports and I don't want to worry about an adapter and I should be around wifi. My jaw dropped when I saw a new license is $1000. I don't remember it being that expensive. What are my options?
