  • What can I do to stop the "Invalid Geometric Normal" warning?

Seriously, I did a 3 minute progressive render and got 102,891 warnings. This is not okay - they happen so quickly that anything else that I might want to view in the log is lost almost instantly.

What can I do to stop this? And what causes it? It's driving me mental.

More to the point, what does it even mean? It's so cryptic and offers no explanation as to what the offending item is. Can it not be shifted to a different verbose level at least?

If this is what I think it is, it's a bug I've been wrangling with for months. Sometimes, when you change the values of a primitive object so that the number of faces changes (up or down), it will randomly corrupt the geometry. Frustratingly, I cannot replicate it with a set number of steps, it just seems to crop up when I'm halfway through a project.

The only way I've been able to rectify it, is to seek out the offending geometry visually (look for messed up faces) then either change the settings back to the way they were or use a Turbo/Meshsmooth modifier.

Have you tried to run V-Ray scene converter https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/...cene+Converter, it might reduce the warnings.
Also which V-Ray version are you using?
