It takes all types to make the world go around

In the diffusion of innovation theory, the minority group (comprising about 14 percent) of population which, after innovators, is first to try new ideas, processes, goods and services. Early adopters generally rely on their on intuition and vision, choose carefully, and have above-average education level. For any new product to be successful, it must attract innovators and early adopters, so that its acceptance or 'diffusion' moves on to early majority, late majority, and then on to laggards.

Happy to be amongst the "laggards" and not struggling with unstable hardware, complaining about shitty max releases, and only concerning myself with producing solid images using tools I know work.

You know you dont get to claim to be an innovator and also say "I just want to work without crashing. I don't care about the politics of it all, I just want to work; this isn't a hobbies software. "

You have to choose one. do you want to gamble, or play it safe?
Most people who enjoy having bleeding edge everything have a second setup that they use as backup, and understand the risks involved in always wanting to test the newest hardware/software.

Yep, totally agree. However, MAX 2018 came out in April and it is now October, with two service packs. To me, that is waiting. It isn't too outlandish to want software, that I pay good money for, to work out of the box. You know, it isn't like I am trying to make a living using alpha software for free. Alpha, beta, public release, and two service pack later!

In our Area forum thread I'd mentioned to you that DPI scaling problems are likely the result of a known W10 issue where not rebooting after changing scale factors can potentially lead to multiple registry entries which prevents the scaling from working. I've had confirmation from numerous threads that making a new user account in Windows (bypassing the corrupted registry) fixes the issue.

The crashing problems you were having were resolved after reinstalling your VC runtimes, according to you in your forum thread.

What other problems are you having?

In MAX 2018 I have had a few crashes, but nothing major. I read the piece about a W10 user issue, but I didn't try it; I replaced my monitor before I came across that workaround. For me, it wasn't a scaling issue, but a blurry screen, which might be the same thing. I'll give it a try layer. I can always return my new monitor, although I do appreciate the extra screen space.

Please feel free to PM me directly if you have any issues to alert me to a posted thread, I'll jump. I haven't seen the blurry text before, might be a function of ClearType. I don't want you down and out though and I'll do anything in my power to help you if you need it. Thanks Bobby.

                    Best,
                    AJ

Well, thanks for the support. I created a new user and now I don't have access to all my folders, so I am not going to mess with it. I went back to my 28" 4K, because the colors on the 32" 2K were not as good. I might be being hyper critical with the blurry text, so maybe it'll all work itself out.
