  • Tight Bounds with AutoCAD Architecture model

We make our projects in AutoCAD Architecture and import them to 3ds max with the Link tool.
AutoCAD Architecture generates geometry in separate objects so it basically looks like this:

So applying Displacement with Tight Bounds enabled is pointless.
Converting the entire model to poly/mesh and doing something about it will break the entire point of using the Link.

Do you guys have any ideas on how to make it work?
    This is a signature.

I was in similar situation before and what I did to preserve the connection and still edit the geometry and materials is to link the Cad file into separate Max file, and then to import all objects via Xref Objects command into another 3dsMax file.
This allowed me to assign modifiers, merge vertices, tweak uv-maps and etc without loosing the connection with CAD file.
I'm not sure if this is going to work into your case, but I used it a few years and worked perfectly for me.

Another option you could try is to apply directly modifiers to linked CAD data, but I had some issues with that workflow in earlier versions of 3dsMax, hopefully this is now improved.
