  • Glass IOR look

    Hi guys,
does anyone know why two glass vases on the right table look like they are full of water? They are modeled with spline/lathe method. Edges have thickness though they look like they are full glass. My glass mat has IOR 1.5, though I tried 1,3-2,5 IORs, none looked right to me.

    You checked the normals direction?

Does this look ok? Does lathe tend to make them incorrect?

Maybe it's illusion because they are flipped over?
Do the glass have any thickness?
Also, I think I see they have polygons at the bottom, it might be because of the image but I see them as closed glass without opening at the top(at the bottom in this case).

Can you attach them so we could better see if everything is fine with the geometry?

Use xview, face orientation to view normals, it's much easier. You'll have to put a non transparent material on your object though

Yes, they have thickness. xView doesn't show flipped. Tried flipping one and it turned green when selected.

Oh found it. A while back I made my glass materials have VrayOverrideMtl. In its refraction override I put the exact same material only with black vraycolour map in environment map. Not sure why that is screwing it up. Like it's double bending the light.

              Here it is now.
