  • Vrayspawner Service?

I'd like to be able to add the vrayspawner as a service on a couple of my computers. Then I would like to remotely access the services from these computers to be able to kill/restart them. I can't seem to find anything about how to set this up. Does anyone here know how I would go about this?

I checked Torgeir's site and there is a .bat method I can't seem to get working- not sure if there was something else I needed to do such as possibly setting up the spawner as a service (starting at step 13 http://www.vray.info/topics/t0116.asp

      I appreciate the links Eric.

But does anyone have any idea why I can't login to my other comps using MMC? I am on a localized network behind a network name. I keep getting permission errors "Unable to open service control manager... Error 5". I'm using Windows XP with same administrator/usernames and Auto logons.

If this is still an issue you may want to right-click My Compyter then Manage>Action>Connect to another computer...>Service and Applications>Services and kill & restart as much as you want.

Wow, a post exactly 1 year (give or take 12hrs and 2 mins.) from the last in the thread, now that is spooky...

That looks handy, I tried it here at home but access is denied, is it just tied straight to permisions or is it something else?

                Wow! Haven't noticed the date

Yes it is connected to privileges, you must be sysadmin or whatever to run it.

                Cheers

Just to blow some dust off this topic. Make sure you uncheck "use simple filesharing" under the options in your explorer settings. At least I think that was what fixed it for us here at work.

yep, its one of the stupid defaults of windows that keeps it from working the way its meant to

Same here. Simple file sharing screwed my network up.

told ya not to use simple

Oh yeah... TightVNC and ultraVNC are better alternatives for VNC clients IMO

Actually. Just now I'm trying to figure out how to remove the vrayspawner60 service. All the regular -r, or -whatnot commands to remove it via cmd prompt only result in launching the app. What is the syntax to uninstall the service?

from the vray help whatsnew (version history)
                            VRaySpawner.exe -unregserver
                            a bit un-intuitive
