  • RED DOTS and reflections

i finally changed to max 7 and suddenly i have this problem:

red dots on reflective materials !!! vray messages say: material returned overbright. it just happens when i have a gardient ramp or a bitmap in the enviroment slot. with pure white as reflection colour the dots are gone.
i also tried the "apply cropping script", no changes ! all materials are vray materials.

i use max 7 with the latest vray version (1.46.10)

    any ideas ? plleeeaaase...

          Hi metroberlin..

I think its that Mix map you are using.. turn it off and the dots go away.

You have applied a camera correction modifier and kept "max compatible shade context" checked - if you uncheck, everything is fine.
It renders much cleaner that way as well.

Funny thing is that it still doesnt happen when you remove the Mix map but still keep the max compatible shade context on ?? odd

ive had that bug before too and if you want to hear something even more freaky. i wasnt using the camera correction modifyer however i had a gradient ramp for my sky and i had it turned 90 degrees. this bug turns up with the gradient ramp at 90 degrees. have it at 0 degrees and the red spots go away.

same here, i used a 90 degrees turned gradient map. when the map is out of the scene it works. must be a baaad bug

there should be a list on the help page about these sorts of issues. AND they should update the help pages to have the same settings that is actually in v 1.47.03 or whatever else is current. In a few years down the road it'll be 1.5. lol
