  • Lamp (semi translucent fabric)

I'm trying to get this effect where part of the material is opaque and the rest is semi translucent. So far I've tried using a texture on a vray light material but that doesn't do what I want, and I haven't exactly been thrilled with my results so far using a regular vray material...

I think my brain's just fried, so if anyone has any suggestions they would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

I think I would probably fake it instead of trying to actually make it translucent. I have done that a couple times....All I do is add a gradient map in the diffuse slot and make the top & bottom darker with your lighter color in the middle. Then you could mix that with a texture so it has some nice detail to it.

You can still have your lightsource inside to shine down, but at least you won't have to worry about translucense.
