  • HDRI in vray dome light

How do you figure out where the bright point of the HDRI is in the dome light? How do you manage rotating the dome light and get feedback (visual/interactive) on where the bright point (sun) is?

I have gone thru Viscorbel tutorial:
    http://viscorbel.com/vray-hdri-lighting-tutorial/

Seems pretty involved and I'm wondering if anyone has a simpler method?

Heck no! There is a script for that.

I did not know about the script. This is when using Sun with HDRI, right? Otherwise, you can click on the Dome Light tab and turn on Lock Texture to Icon, then you can rotate the dome and the HDRI will rotate with it. In order to see it in the viewport... follow the viscorbel video, I don't often use that feature and I can't remember right away how to do this simply.

It ads the dome with HDRI, as invisible and then there is a copy in the environment slot. It also places the V-Ray Sun at the HDRI's brightest spot, which you can turn off if you want.
