  • Gbuffers won't render...

I'm getting plain black when rendering Vray z/gi/shadow gbuffers.

I'm using the Vray Frame Buffer and have split gbuffers set to split out as tga files, but they end up as black only. I must have unchecked something but I can't imagine what. Any Ideas?

    Here are my settings http://www.scriptspot.com/ftp/vraysettings.jpg

    Thanks,

I see that you have the Z-depth and Node ID channels checked; you need to save as a .rpf or a .rla file from the 3dsmax normal "Render output" option since VRay will not save them from the VRay VFB.

    Best regards,
    Vlado

But what about the GI / Shadows / Reflections / etc? RLA/RPF's don't allow for saving this data... What did I do that Vray isn't saving this at all?

Some of the channels require vray material to work correctly.

FYI, I'm using Vray materials throughout... Vray version 1.46.10 & max 7...

Aha! It was the distributed rendering that was ruining things...

The render is going to take way too long now, but so long as I don't use DR the gbuffers work fine...

Now that I think about it, that may have been listed as a unsupported feature that I forgot wasn't supported... Oh well. Hopefully, it'll be added/fixed soon.

There are a lot of things that aren't supported when using DR. My biggest complaint is that region render doesn't work with DR. Also, neither does PSD manager, which I guess would fall under the category of 'effects'.
