  • Aerial Perspective fogging up my interiors.

Why does the Aerial Perspective effect fog up my interiors? It makes my exterior shots look great, but I'm often asked to swoop the camera from outside to inside and when I do it looks like someone turned a fog machine on in there. I have the visibility range set for 60,000 meters.

Can you attach some interior examples with Aerial Perspective enabled and disabled?
Stripped down version of the scene will be also very helpful.

I posted this complaint a long while ago. I was probably under too tight a deadline at the time to follow up, but I always have this problem, and I'm having it right now on a scene that's much lighter. Shall I email you the file?

        Hey, Yoyo,

Thank you for the post. If I understand you correctly if you replace the Aerial Perspective with V-Ray "Environment Fog" you can handle it as you can use "gizmo fog" and "select light" built-in options.

        Cheers,

Why does it cause my interiors get all foggy though? Does it function differently than a volumetric atmospheric?

Yes, it is different than Fog. Originally was designed and created for a large scale exterior scene when is needed. For the closer look scenes such as in your case, I think is better to use Env.Fog which allows shifting between exterior to interior avoiding the GI changes for example. God Ray's effect is possible with Env.Fog as well.

            Cheers,
