  • Light cache passes performance loss with high CPU core counts.

    Hello!
I remember a few versions back there was a slider for light cache passes.
As far as I can see it this slider is gone. Yet this value is still accessible via maxscript and the default value seems to be 64.

If I render a frame on a machine with > 64 CPU cores, I'm getting a warning about performance loss because the number of CPUs is higher then the number of passes.

Are there any plans to automatically set this value to the number of cores or are you planning to bring the slider back?
I mean, yes sure, it can be set via maxscript but what was the point about removing this slider in the first place?

    any info is much appreciated!
    Thanks

    Hello,

Actually the number of passes can't be controlled any more and is set to 64. The MAXScript value is not taken into account.
As for the warning - disregard it for now and we might remove it at all.

    Best regards,
