  • Normal Map really weak

    hello
I have a question/problem regarding Normal Maps in VRay.

    1. As far as I know it is not possible to show the normal map in the Nitrous Realistic viewport because the API of 3ds Max does not allow this. Is this still the case in version 2019 or in a future VRay version?

    2. I have the problem that the normal map is shown always very weak when i render in Vray. To crank up the normal value in the node to something higher than 1 does not seem to have a mayor impact an the normal map.
In the Standard Max Renderer, Substance Painter or Marmoset Toolbag it works without problems. Could this may have something to do with my Vray lighting solution itselve? (I use a Dome Light with an HDRI MAP).

    I'm using 3ds max 2018 with VRay 3.6

    Thanks ...

Do you mean the effect of the normal map or just the texture. If for the texture, I don't have any problems showing it in the viewport. As for the strength are you sure you're using the correct gamma for the normal map?
    A.

      Sorry for beeing unclear.
Yes i'm talking about the normal map effect visible in the Viewport..
For my normal maps I'm using a gamma input 1.0 so as far as i know this should not be the issue....
