  • V-Ray Licensing problem

We purchased several copies of vray quite recently and have been happy with it so far. However, I went to update the version of vray on my machine to the latest build, and now I can't render anything. I've tried e-mailing support several times and I got one reply and that didn't help, and also I had to wait a day for a response.

I've installed the latest stable release. The version I had before was 1.09.03r. I've been told the licensing system has now changed.

I'm stuck and don't know what to do, and I'm a machine down now for more than a day. I tried removing all files relating to vray from my machine in the hope that I could install it again and recreat the license file, but that didn't work. I have installed it before and I have admin privledges.

on the old verion (1.09) I simply installed the renderer from the exe and when the screen came up in max to prompt me to license it, I filled in my information and e-mailed this to vray, who within 10 minutes sent be back an auth code.

Now when I try to render it asks me in the render dialog box to point to the license file. Can someone help?

Thanks for the tip RErender. I'm going to completely remove vray first before I retry this. I want to go back to the beginning.

When I did this try before earlier today, the window that pops up to tell you to input your authorisation details doesn't appear any more. I think the license information needs to be contained in a file now?

I don't have that information unfortunately. I'll see what I can do, and hopefully vray support e-mail me back soon to let me know how to proceed.

I think I've been a bit of an eedjit over this one. I just went there now to start the vray license server...and I noticed that there was a code that I had to copy and paste and send to vray. I've done that now, so hopefully that will be me sorted.

The change over from the old system confused me.
