  • Ocean Tex

    Hi Chaosgroup,

Would it be possible to add the ocean and foam tex to the default Vray download, because now you can't have a continual demo of pheonix on your machine so all the old scenes that used to run fine with the ocean tex and foam tex will no longer render correctly. It's really the only thing I use from Pheonix on a regular basis, I'd even prefer the ability to simply just pay for those 2 maps as I don't need the full phoenix package for the majority of my projects.

Let me know your thoughts, I'm pretty sure this was requested a while ago, and it's more important to me now as I have a few projects where I really need to use it and I can no longer download the phoenix demos.

    Cheers.

Did you buy phoenix at some point, cause you used the maps in a project?
Cause then you would only have a problem if an older version of phoenix didn't work with the current vray..

Hi Manuel, thanks for the reply.

No, the way it used to work is that Phoenix was downloadable as an unlimited demo and it had simulation limitations, but now it only lasts for 30 days and once those 30 days are done nothing works from Phoenix including the ocean and foam tex maps.

      Cheers.

Wow. Unlimited. Well, it's only natural that it isn't free forever .
but an ocean Tex in vray would be great. Even if I own phoenix and don't care so much

Well, unlimited in the sense that you could continue to use its features, but on a limited basis, I believe that the simulation had a maximum cell count so simulations in the demo would be pretty coarse. I do think of the Ocean Tex and Foam Tex as a different feature set to Phoenix FD although they work great together.
think it needs to be in Vray as a default as it's basically a procedural displacement map.

I'd really like to hear from the Devs if there are any plans for this.

          Cheers.

Any plans or alternatives for this Vlado?

              Bumping this.

Earlier I downloaded the Phoenix demo just to be able to use OceanTex (and I believe it could also help speed up some volumetric rendering? But that might've been included in the native V-Ray code now) but that is no longer possible.

                Hey,

You can install the Phoenix FD trial and use the Ocean Texture.

                  Hi!

When I try to download it first says:
"You already have a trial license for this product or you have a commercial license for the current version. You can get your product from the download section"

And after clicking that and trying to download it just says "Expired download access."

                    Hello,

What is the username that you are logging in on the website with? We can extend the trial, but I need to know which username it is.

It's "Tedde". I think this account is connected via my current job email, so I couldn't use my regular "Undersky". Thanks for the help!
