  • rpc question

little bit off topic/forum (but there's a lot of good knowledge here) however I was wondering why do some rpc cars look real bad, i.e. they look low poly around the wheel archs and the textures look blurry. This was the first time I noticed it looking bad in renderings and wonder why do they cost so much if this is the quality.

    Thanks,
    Tom

    Hi Tom,
I have some RPC cars which are from the parkinglot volume. I think when you buy that version they have a slightly lower polygon count because I have a similar problem.

    Cheers TD

TD got the main point, there's a significant difference between the parking lot and driving car collections in terms of quality... mostly because of the sheer volume of RPCs needed to fill most parking lots.

Also I usually render my RPCs as a scanline pass -- VRay blurs textures a great deal more at the default 1.0 blur map setting, and since RPCs don't take on much lighting from the scene it's easier to control them if you separate them in a pass and color correct in Photoshop.
