    Hi all,

    I am trying to get into using the vraydisplacement modifier. I dont understand why anytime I use it it moves my geometry apart. Take a look a this example. The one left I created using edit poly modifiers the one on the right is using the vraydisplacement modifier. See how edges get pushed away from each other?

    How do I control that from not happening?

    In the rollout for the VRayDisplacementMod there is a header, "3d mapping/subdivision", look for a check box for "keep continuity". Click that.

      Use the "Keep continuity" option, as mentioned above (it really needs to be the default nowadays). You can also use the "Shift" value to control the middle (neutral) value for the displacement. For example if the displacement "Amount" is 10.0, you can set the "Shift" to -5.0 to consider the medium grey values in the texture as neutral (no displacement) value.         Thanks guys. I think it was the shift amount value since I did have keep continuity checked.
