  • Vray NEXT - adaptive domelight artifacts - when can we please expect some progress?

    Hello,
the otherwise quite perfect adaptive domelight becomes unusable for the final stills as it produces these known large square patches of uneven lighting:
as seen bellow - look around the bottom of the staircase area and concrete wall.

any idea when we can expect some progress or fix in this regard please?

    Cheers
    Martin

    Hello,
would you please send us the scene for investigation?

As Philip said, it would be extremely helpful to take a look at the scene - we've done a couple of fixed already but I want to make sure your case is covered as well.

      Best regards,

            Did you get the files?
I did not receive any confirmation.
            Thanks!

              Hey Martin,

I've tested your scene using the V-Ray build that was saved with. No artifacts here.

But .. you have the so called back-plates with all options that are known for making trouble with the adaptive dome light -

If it was that easy, it would have already been done

                Thanks Peter,

would you please then care to share some know-how on how to make a controllable backplate that doesnt affect GI in any way and doesnt receive/cast shadow?
Whats the correct and "compatible" way please?
Or is it "in the works" that these option will not make any trouble whatsoever to dome lights?

                Thanks a lot!

                  Hi,

i get also artefacts when rendering camera fly throughs ("Adaptive dome" enabled). You get the artefact only if you render a sequence with at least two frames. If you render a single frame everthing renders correct.

                  Best,
                  Ralf

Yes, that's the idea. There are a lot of "unphysical" tweaks that users like to use and the best solution is to make them work with the adaptive dome light.

Can you elaborate a little more? Do you use precalculated LC? Can you send the scene with the teapots to check your settings?

                        Hi Peter,

i just send you the file via mail. I don't use precalculated LC.

                        Best regards,

Is there a new build I can test to see if the problem went away in the image shown above?
