  • Sporadic crashing

    Hey guys,

Both myself and my colleague are having an issue with either max or vray, or possibly both and I'm wondering if anyone else is experiencing it?

I've got a particular project that when I cancel a render, it simply vanishes. No crash screen - nothing. I've also had it happen when closing various other dialogues such as the vray light lister, or cg-source multitexture (leading me to suspect it may not be a vray issue). The problem is that it's quite sporadic, and there's no real way of telling when it's going to do it.

Actually it happens every time I cancel a render, on this particular project.

Can you send us your scene to support@chaosgroup.com along with all assets used in, for investigation?
Also if you could reproduce the crash, send us the 3dsmax_minidump and vraylog files located in C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Temp

Presumably it won't create a minidump file as it's not your typical crash??? It doesn't throw up the usual "3ds max has crashed" windows error reporting dialogue. It just closes without saving.

        Here's a video of what happens: https://youtu.be/TSYpA0OFXiE

I have some renders to get done for tomorrow so i'll get the scenes over to you as soon as I can after.

          Are you using DR?
If it was that easy, it would have already been done

Please download the latest official build from our site and see if it will happen again.

18 hour render just finished and crashed instantly before I could save it. My frustration is immeasurable and my day is ruined. Suppose I can get on with updating to the latest version though...
