  • MAX 2019 1.1 Spline

Anyone having performance issues with splines in MAX 2019 1.1? I mean, so bad I can't work. Picking a spline takes minutes and deleting it another couple minutes. Shapemerge, convert to mesh and select poly picks random poly's across the shape.

Also, merging seems to be broken. It takes a couple minutes to merge even the smallest of things. Could just be me, so if someone can verify, that would be great.

I found out the problem with merging. If the file you are merging is in a different unit, it doesn't work. At least that is my finding. And it seems that the file you are merging things into has to be a larger file. I can merge anything, regardless of scale, into a blank MAX scene.

          Bobby,
I have not upgraded to 2019 should I just skip this release? Seems very buggy?

I think this is something you have to try and see for yourself - there are so many variables out there, equipment, drivers, OS, operator experience and handling, model origins (i.e. where things have come from), scripts etc etc.

I'm no big defender of AutoDesk's track record with 3DS Max.

I've found 2019 to be very good.

That's why I'm still on 2016 (and 2018 on projects that require more advanced texturing). I can't use 2019 at all because of the decimal point bug. I can't decide which is worse, 2017 or 2019. 2016 has been rock-solid for a 3rd year now. Looks like 2016 is the best versions to use at the moment. 2018 is kinda ok if you don't mind the occasional viewport glitch bugs where suddenly objects can't be selected or completely disappear altogether. Price for upgrades should be decreasing each year, not increasing...

I pay quarterly and every quarter it has gone up. Yeah, something happened after MAX 2016 and I would love to know what. MAX 2018 was pretty good and MAX 2019 is about the same. Being told to convert everything to an edit mesh, not an edit poly, is a joke. Since when can't we use edit poly? Someone should really look into a class action lawsuit. I have lost some much money in lost productivity, it is irresponsible of them.
