This is a rather strange bug. A sphere vraylight don't illuminate if it's rotated 135º on the Z axis, and it's X and Y positions are equal. The solution: just add something like 0.001 to either X or Y and it works.

EDIT: On the attached file, slide the timeslider to frame 135 to see what I mean. There, change the X and Y positions of the light.
