  • VRay Next GPU not working on Max Design 2013

I've contacted support but would like to know if anyone else has had this issue and, hopefully, found a solution to. As in the title, I'm running VRay Next on Max Design 2013. The production renderer works fine so my license is being acquired (unless, there is a separate GPU license that isn't being grabbed).

The activeshade render button does nothing, however, and it appears that the render setup dialogue is missing a lot of content. I've composited a few screen captures of what it looks like: The V-Ray tab looks like the VRay 3 RT content, lacking some of the GI rollouts while the Perf. and Settings tabs are completely blank.

Reinstalling VRay did not resolve the issue. I have yet to try reinstalling Max, which I'd like to avoid the hassle of if I can.

    Thanks!

V-Ray GPU now has only Production mode, there is no more ActiveShade.. You can run both Production and IPR from it. Set V-Ray GPU as main render engine.
We show ActiveShade UI in case you have saved the scene with V-Ray GPU in ActiveShade mode. We have this noted somewhere in the docs for the differences between 3 and Next.

Ahhhh. Well I feel a little more than a little silly. I must have overlooked that when going through the documentation, and when I saw the same tabs available (albeit blank) in the activeshade dialogue, I presumed that is where I should have been seeing the features of the GPU render. Sorry for the forum bloat.

      Thanks Blago!

So, for my own comprehension, is it fair to say that the IPR mode of the GPU production render is essentially to be used as RT in Activeshade before it?
