  • problem with net render

    Hello

    i have a problem with 3dsmax 7 net render :

If a net render take more than 600 minutes (10 hours), the render manager automaticly crash the servers.
I changed parameters in : Network job assigment (default timeout = 600)
to 9999 but the manager continu stoping renders after 600 minutes.

Do you know what's going on ?

    GREGG

p.s computation is ok when, it's done on a single machine and i'm rendering in vray 1.46.14 (but i think it's a problem with max net render)

This would be more of a 3dsmax problem; unfortunately I'm not sure how this can be avoided; perhaps you can ask at the discreet support forum. If you don't get a response, let me know and I'll contact the 3dsmax development team.

    Best regards,

you have to change the settings in your queue monitor.
mark the job, rm click, edit settings, scroll down to timouts and set the timeouts higher. this will temporally change the timeouts.
you can change the settings globally in the 'network job assignment' under 'advanced'

yeah i'd say its a scene related/backburner problem where most possibly the scene doesnt start up on render so backburner waits for it. We had similar one where after first render any other jobs would give I/Oerror and then the newtwork nodes wouldnt start to render so turned out it was permissions thing. For some reason all the boxes got this network reest...so they need to be rest after that everything went ok.

This appears to be a new problem as it times out at 600 minutes even if set to the max of 70,000.

if you install 3dsmax7 on the render manager the problem goes away.
we had this occuring with only installing backburner, once max7 was installed it workes fine
              hope this helps.

                hi guys...

i dont know if this is the same problem i am passing by, but i am also in troubles with it, take a look at the screen and tell me something if you can

the weirdest thing is that after this problem, i tried with scanline and the render wenf fine, so i switched another time to vrday and it went fine too, so, i have no idea about what could causing this issue, any idea guys?

have had that error message recently as well. would happen towards the end of the image. Rerendered from a saved irrad map instead of creating it on the fly and it rendered okay....

I have a number of scenes that won't network render, they render fine locally but get that unexpected exception error late in the render when on the network. The machines are similar spec, so it's not a resource thing.

                      Thanks Jacob Hutson

since I’ve installed 3dmax7 on my render manager everything worked well and I’ve succeed to render an image during more than 10 hours.
No error messages appeared anymore, it seems it was a bug from 3dsmax7.0

                      Thanks again.

It seems that sometimes 3dsmax crashes in server mode; we had such a case recently, but it turned out that it has nothing to do with VRay - it was crashing now and again even with the scanline renderer. Of course, sometimes, it is VRay that crashes.

                        Best regards,
