  • Vray 3.6 IPR + Frost

V-Ray hangs (seems like it's endlessly restarting the render) on IPR whenever a Frost object is in the scene.

The initial render is fine, but any change to the scene or the camera causes the render to stop updating.

    Using 3.60.04

The message in the V-Ray log is an endless loop of "Rendering from camera PhysCamera001", and in the frame buffer itself the message at the bottom is "Preparing tone operator."

Is there anything that can be done about this?

We can reproduce the same thing and have logged it as a bug (reference ID VMAX-7974).
We'll post here on any updates.

      Thank you.

Generally, is it reasonable to expect things like this to be fixed in a 3.x update? Or will a fix only be integrated into V-Ray Next?

We very recently released an update for 3.6 and it's too early to say whether there will be another one or not, sorry.

Sorry to be persistent, but we're about to upgrade a rather large pipeline from 3.2 to 3.6 and it would help to know if there is another update on the horizon that we should wait for before upgrading.
I do see that there are still 3.6 nightlies being published, can I take that as any indication?

There will be 3.7 for supporting 3ds Max 2020 next year, but that won't be soon.
If it was that easy, it would have already been done
