Materials Previews Not Updating ....

Has anyone ever seen the materials stop updating? When I restarted max to try to fix, the VRay ball are all black... and i can't get them to update. When i tweak a material, there is also no preview or update. Checked and my licensing is fine. Restarted machine. Tried new blank scenes. Problem persists. Very strange. Any ideas?
