Is the ground plane a matte object under the vray properties?

Can you send your scene along with all the assets, to support@chaosgroup.com so we can investigate it?

I've sent the scene to you.
FYI. In the OP renders the vrayplane is excluded from the dome light, but is being lit by a second one.

The following images are from the light select of just the dome light.
It seems that if other lights are on, the adaptive vray dome light is less accurate (darker and bucketed). Perhaps it is intentionally programmed to work this way, but it's clearly visible.
