  • Light cache bug using VraySky in Dome texture

The scene is a simple box with a few models in it and some vray plane lights to see what's in there.

Vray Dome Light with a VraySky being used in the texture slot. The Light cache pass creates a glow where the models meet the ground surface.

When the texture is turned off in the Vray dome light, the light cache is clean.

    Using Vray Next update 1.1

justini - turn the "spherical (full dome)" option off and it will render correctly

yes that seems to fix it Chris, but users shouldn't have to know to turn that off. It needs fixing.

I couldn't reproduce the same problem on a new simple scene.

Thank you for sending the files.
It seems the Shadow bias value is too high, resetting it should fix the problem.

Riddle me this. Why would you use the vraysky in the texture slot?

Thanks for discovering this. Even creating a new dome light in the same scene has the same bais value. Surely It would make sense for the bias value of new lights to revert to the default, not the previously used value.

It does revert to the default value (which is 0.02 system units), but since you have meters for system units, but millimeters for display units you're seeing 20 mm for the shadow bias.
Another option would be to add Shell modifier to the walls, at the moment they have no thickness and this is causing the leak.

haha you won 2019. USERS shouldn't know how to USE the software of their choice. In fact Chaosgroup should make my visuals.
