  • Can't render deep,multipart OpenEXR

    Hello,
I'm testing if I can output a deep OpenEXR with checked multipart and It doesn't seem to work. The rendered frames are not in parts. Maybe it's a known issue or a limitation? Would love to hear from anyone that knows more about it.

    Best Regards,

    Hello Petko,

V-Ray does not currently support deep multi-part images writing. It is not clear how to deal with such files - what should be stored in each part and how such files are useful. For example Nuke's DeepRead operator can only access one deep part that corresponds to the current view and it expects that the A, Z and Zback channels are present in this deep part. It seems that using multi-part deep parts in Nuke is currently limited to loading of multi-view multi-part deep files with one part per view.

      Hi Vasil,

Thanks for the clarification. On our part, it's about how to practically get these frames out - the multipart makes files quick to read, and deep without that is very heavy. If there's another way, like splitting off the deep part, that would be great.
