  • Blowup and Auto Region Selected produce stretched results (and some forum registration issues)

    The problem:
Selected object renders incorrectly when Area to Render set to Blowup and Auto Region Selected is checked.
It renders as non-uniformly stretched, completely filling an image.

The expected behavior can be observed choosing the 'Scanline' renderer.
The rendered object will be scaled uniformly to fit an image.

    Windows 10, 3dsMax 2018.4, V-Ray 3.60.05

Apparently, the issue has been reported earlier:
    https://forums.chaosgroup.com/forum/...egion-selected

And just to vent out some frustration since there isn't a forum section for general discussions (why?):
I have no idea how did I manage to register on this forum.
    Seriously.
For several weeks I was getting something along the lines that 'Registration was disabled by Administrator' or something.
I asked my colleagues to register but they failed as well.
I tried VPN and different browsers but it did nothing.
    The contact form located here:
    https://forums.chaosgroup.com/contact-us
proved to be completely useless. I tried several times but received no answer whatsoever.
And after the registration (still no idea how did I do that), I had to write a letter to allow me to post (why?).
I have dozens of all sorts of accounts.
This is the first time I have so much trouble registering.
CG needs to put much more effort into these things.
    It's 2019 outside, people.

    LOL
Obviously, I was being sarcastic about the year 2019 being outside and all but apparently, CG actually doesn't know that!
In my post, it says that I've joined November 2017 whereas I've joined sometime in January 2019.
CG should have a serious look at the forum software.

      Hey,

It's strange that this haven't been logged so far, it is also reproducible with the latest V-Ray nightly build. I'm going to log it as a bug in our system. Issue VMAX-8203
Maybe we can make something similar for the new VFB, let me check.

Sorry for issue you have with our forum registration. Can you provide more detail in order to get this resolved.
Have you used different mail account for this registration ? What email has been used when you and your colleagues tried to register?

I will also check with our ITs what might be the problem with the wrong Join Date for your account.

I can change the Join Date of your account manually until we manage to find what is broken and fix it, just give me an exact date.

I hope the bug will be fixed soon.

As for the forum registration -- I will not post mail addresses on the public forum,
but you can check out your logs for registration attempt at about 9.59 CET on Jan 30, 2019 for the amcgtbox/a/gmail.com address.
          Registration failed.
Screenshot of the error dialog attached:
Click image for larger version Name:	Error.png Views:	1 Size:	8.3 KB ID:	1024680

Join date is largely irrelevant for me personally and I'd like for this to work correctly for everyone.
Still, it can be changed to January 29, 2019.

          Thank you.

            Thanks for this update.
We made a few tests with the forum registration form and everything worked as expected - registration completed with correct join date. It would be best to create support ticket in our system about this issue and perhaps arrange a remote session, if possible of course.
By the way, have you tried with a different browser?

Just tried the latest Opera and failed (11.10 CET).
Previously tried the latest Chrome and Vivaldi.
              All for Windows.
Might have tried the same browsers for OSX.

Regarding the bug -- is there any tracker of sorts for V-Ray issues?

Thanks for the pointer about the selected/blowup issue; will look into it. We have an internal bug tracker, but it's not public at this time unfortunately.

                  Best regards,
                  Vlado

So I pushed a fix for this for the nightly builds of V-Ray Next, will try to move it to the stable V-Ray Next and 3.6 builds.

                      Best regards,
                      Vlado

Yeah, it seemed like an easy one.
                        Thank you very much, Vlado.

                          Hi,
This is now fixed for the V-Ray Next nightly builds, will let you know if we manage to add the fix to the 3.x stable nightly builds successfully.

                            Excellent, thanks.
Btw, are nightly builds publicly accessible?

It requires account permission update. You can write to support@chaosgroup.com for V-Ray 3.x stable nightly access, my colleagues will need your username for the website and you can also mention this thread as a reference.
