Forest Pack as source for DistanceTex

Hi,

please, is it possible to make this feature? Now when I tried to add FP object to distanceTex, error showed up. It would be great if this will work without trasfering FP object to actual mesh.

Hey Jiri,

Unfortunately VRayDistanceTex relies on knowing the exact geometry before the render begins and with Forest this in done rendertime.

Is this the same with railclone? I found that didn't work with distancetex. Instead I had to copy and convert to edit poly, then link to the edge tex.

My intuiton says it's similar. Railclone (just as FP) allows for setting the viewport to mesh so I guess it should work if your RC isn't too heavy for your viewport.

When I show my mesh in viewport, I thought VRay knew where are those objects and polygons, but probably not.

I have achieved this, if in a slightly more expensive way than doing so directly, through the export of the fPro parts i needed to proxy.
They needn't be renderable either.
