  • Stopping IPR Crash

This happens way too often. I simply stop an IPR render and it crashes MAX to the desktop. Here is a very simple model that it just happened too. This one has Walls&Tiles, but that's not always the case.

Yep Bobby, even though it's much better than the bad old days, it still crashes, complex or simple scenes. Your machine is a beast so you would think it wouldn't have any problems. Would be interesting to see if someone on here doesn't get any crashes.

I get crashes on large scenes - although i still suspect its with Forest Pro
While IPR is running if i turn a layer off / on my Max crashes straight to the desktop usually only on large scenes

Interesting. Let's see if support gets involved. The scene I posted was small and the only plugin was VizPark's Walls&Tiles, which can be problematic sometimes.

          Hello,

I've installed Viz Par Walls & Tiles Version 1.5.2 but when I open the scene I still get a warning that there is some missing VP Walls & Tiles plugin. There are also a bunch of missing bitmaps.

I then tried IPR with the scene, hiding and unhiding geometries, changed some random material properties etc.. but no luck - when I stop IPR it just stops.

Anything specific that I should try ?

          Best regards,
          Yavor

I just tested the scene you posted, but converted back to Max 2017. No issues there, apart from the missing walls and tiles stuff. Works like it should, moving lights, changing cameras and materials etc.

Out of interest does anyone here not get crashes? If so, how often do you get them, once a day, once an hour, etc. It's definitely pretty good these days but it still seems to spin out sometimes. For me it happens every prolonged IPR session albeit not straight away. So let's say every 20 minutes, obviously I turn off all high poly props to help speed things up.

Very very rarely I have to say. Mostly these crashes happen when I modify any ForestPack objects. IPR itself is quite stable with Next Update 1. However, in most cases scenes here are very organized and optimized (ie. kicking out any helpers that are not necessary, strict hierarchy etc)

Any crashes are frustrating, obviously. There really doesn't seem like any rhyme or reason.

same here too ..I've countered few crashes with forest pack but I was using old version and updating seems to fix it now ..I only have Forest pack and Railclone plugins in my projects, so the problem could be caused by other plugins .

Please make sure you are using the latest versions of the plugins. As always any scenes and repro steps will be very helpful.
