  • "Affect background" not being honored by the progressive sampler.

    Hi all!

We've had trouble recently, with the Affect background checkbox not working in the Color Mapping rollout, when using Progressive rendering.
Is this a common know issue?

    We're using V-Ray Next, update 1 (4.10.01.00001)

There's nothing special in the scene, apart from VrayOCIO node used for colorspace transformation of an environment map (input through a VrayHDRI node).

I'd love to hear your thoughts about it, and potential solution if it's not a bug.
    Thanks in advance!

Yep. As far as I know, this is a known limitation of the Progressive sampler and is even documented in the help pages.

      Thanks!

      Any idea for a workaround?
I thought about using the background option in the VFB instead of using the environment slot, but it doesn't seem to be made to use sequences. (The whole idea is to just use color corrected plate for material/light matching of the 3D content during iteration phase, and rendering final without it)

You could load the backplate as background in the VFB and not in the render itself?

        Best regards,

Exactly what I mentioned above I thought of doing, but the background slot in VFB does not accept image sequences.
          (That'd be cool, though!)

Yeah, image sequences for the VFB background was also a major request during our customer visits in the last two weeks, so it's definitely coming.
