  • Viewport IPR missing in Max 2020/Vray 1.2

    Hi,

Just installed both Max 2020 and V-Ray Next for 3ds Max, update 1.2. Now, it seems, that viewport IPR is missing from viewport menu - used to be in upper left menu with "HighQuality", Standard", etc.... If that is intended I just need to know how to access it now. I did fire up Max 2019 and it's still there in the menu on those projects.

    Thanks
    Daf

Hit the "V-Ray menus registration" button in the V-Ray Toolbar and then check again.
If it was that easy, it would have already been done

Update - added Viewport IPR to quad menu so I can access there but still not showing up in Viewport menu.

        Thanks

It's there for me on a fresh 3ds Max 2020 install. Stupid question, but is V-Ray the current renderer at that point? The viewport menu option will not show up if V-Ray is not the current renderer.

          Best regards,

Thanks, Vlado - Vray is the current renderer - see screenshot

Hm, this kind of looks different for me (see attachment). Did you load another color scheme?

Have you tried re-registering the menus?

...do you mean pressing this Icon on the Vray toolbar? Yes, many times. I also updated my drivers to the most recent. I use the Viewport Ipr all the time all the time, but now it just disappeared. Should I reinstal vray?

Yes and if that doesn't work, rename this folder to backup it or delete it (it will reset 3ds Max to it's initial state) -

                      Code:
                      C:\Users\[B]USER[/B]\AppData\Local\Autodesk\3dsMax\2021 - 64bit\ENU
Then you have to re-register the menus.

Ahhhhh, finally, thank you!!! Tried re-installing, but no success...wish I'd spotted this first.

Not sure what cause IPR to disappear from the viewport menu, but relieved to get it back.

I just ran across this thread. I'm having the same issue and wonder if in the past year you have figured out another way to solve it besides doing an ENU reset? While I do have a protocol for doing that so I can recover my customizations, it takes an hour or so. I'd like to get the viewport IPR back without a Max lobotomy.

I found this article that shows you how to go into the customize menu and add it back to the viewport.
