  • Faster loading of DR nodes?

Any tips for getting DR node's to load faster? I am burning out an animation and trying to get the render time down to 3min/frame. Unfortunately the primary workstation gets through most of the frame before any of the nodes even appear. Am I missing something here?

Our set up is a Disk-station->Gigabit switch->DR nodes with nvme hard drive. Deadline managed queue (not managing the DR spawners)

    Edit:Vray 3.7.01; Max 2018; Scene file cameras only (5mb) with 2 xrefs (mesh, 166mb & props 836mb)

Are you using DR for animations? It might not be the most efficient thing to do, as you have found out. For animations, it might actually be better to use something like Backburner or another render manager to distribute entire frames to different machines.

Yes for animation. We are using Deadline to distribute and manage (two nodes). I ended up using the two deadline nodes to render full frames and the remaining workstations in the office acted as vray DR nodes. I might be worth buying more deadline nodes for animations as Backburner is just...... well its just the worst lol. Thnx for the input.
