  • Next Update 2: Noise in GI and Refl when using Adaptive Dome and Consistent Lighting Elements

    Hey guys,
I came across a bug in our standard lighting setup. When using the now default adaptive dome together with consistent lighting elements, we get noise in the reflection and Gi passes which look like fireflies. These are not visible in the main RGB render.
If you turn of adaptive dome and consistent lighting elements, the noise disappears.
Also, the rendered result does not add up the RGb beauty in Photoshop.
I prepared a scene with the scene, the renders and a sample PSD, sent it to Vlado.

I haven't looked at the scene yet. but it may be somewhat normal; V-Ray will optimize for the RGB render element only and try to get that one as clean as possible. To decrease the noise in the render elements, simply add some more min. subdivs to the image sampler.

Note that compositing will never work properly if you apply any color corrections to your input render elements (except maybe exposure). Color corrections should be the last thing you do on the final composited beauty.

      Best regards,
      Vlado

Hm, the difference seems to come from the matte plane. It's not related to the adaptive dome though, because it's exactly same with and without it. It also renders exactly the same as in Update 1, so at least it's not a regression In any case, looking into it, thanks for the scene.

        Best regards,
        Vlado

This should be fixed in the latest nightly builds, if you can test and let me know it would be great.
