  • Next Update 2: Using Exposure Corrections breaks render elements

    Hey guys,
I just noticed that using the exposure correction inside the VFB breaks the layer compositing in Photoshop. As soon as there are modifications made to exposure or contrast, the render elements do no longer add up to the RGB Beauty. When you disable these corrections, everything is fine again.
Please take a look at the attached PSD file, valid for 7 days. It is easily reproducable. Settings for the exposure corrections are: Exp. +0,5, Contrast -0,15.

    Next Update 2, Max 2018.

This will generally not work correctly, especially with non-linear color corrections like the contrast one. You have to do your final composite, and then apply any contrast color correction etc.

I never noticed it before. Was it the same for 3.6 and older? Is there something that can be done to avoid this?

It has always been like this. The exposure will probably work, but contrast is definitely not a linear function and will break the compositing. The only thing you can do is what I typed above - leave the color corrections for last, after all compositing.

Or, alternatively, in the upcoming VFB2 you might be able to do all compositing directly there and the issue will be solved :P

        Best regards,
        Vlado

Eagerly waiting for VFB2. With debug shading and able to select object/material and set focus in VFB, it's such an integral part of the experience.
            always curious...
