Man...On a single day deadline and I'm running into Update 2 issues. This time IPR window freezing up when I have Forest Pack objects on in your view/file. If you turn off the the FP objects IPR works fine.

Which version of Forest Pack and which version of 3ds Max is this? Is there anything special in the setup?

    Best regards,
    Vlado
I only act like I know everything, Rogers.

6.2.1 is the latest one. Please update your FP and if the issue is still there, please send me the scene.
If it was that easy, it would have already been done

It'd be easier on you if you gave updates a bit of a test run, before committing to them for production, all the more so on tight deadlines.
Particularly when a number of different plugins are used, an update in one may trigger a cascade of updates in all the others (across a farm, perhaps. not pretty!).
While the utmost care is taken on our part to release a working product, and to coordinate with other software companies, stuff still slips (and always will!) through the cracks: Chaos can only guarantee the effort put into it, not the end result, as much as we wish we could.
The potential benefits of a new feature ought always to be weighted against the needed, and non-trivial testing and setup work.
My 2 cents as an ex-TD to help reduce frustrations.

p.s.:i'm not trying to be patronising here, just matter-of-factly. Please do not get offended if it all sounds obvious to you.

No worries. I don't get easily offended. Just seems like the more popular CG has gotten the more buggy the releases. I really don't want CG to become another Autodesk where they are so embedded into the workflow that bugs become more of the norm. I've revert back to Update 1.

We all strive to do our very best, but the more time passes, the fewer low-hanging fruits remain to be picked.
Which in turn leads to more complicated technology and a higher risk of issue (Check Asen's talk at TC on the LensFx for an example...).
I seriously doubt it has anything to do with popularity (which CG got over a decade ago).

Thanks Lele for the pointer to (Ifound it eventually;p)...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QFL30-WDhQc
Very interesting and feeds totally into my overriding concern re. people's expectations and what drives those who strive to meet them.

I absolutely 'knew' in the 80s that we would achieve what is now pretty much taken for granted in terms of cgi people (for example)....that is still progressing of course....but I saw it
coming and my friends thought I was insane to think thus.
We are so used to this tech now - but I honestly believe we should be like I was then....patient yet forward-looking and demanding of change. It took quite some time for my thoughts to become reality...but here we are and we continue to progress.
I say 'we' - all of us as well as the extremely gifted techy types who code our dreams...the entire growing enormous group of minds on all sides of the creative process who drive innovation.

For me personally it is all still extremely cool - buggy as fuck sometimes but still what makes me happy and feeds me And I have more patience for what is to come!

                YAY CG ...and the rest...obvs

We are all very fond of Bobby, you know.
I'd say that without the people - their characters, cultures and quirks- that make up the community, we'd have very few stories to tell.
And where would the fun be in that?

Oh yeah for sure - it wasn't a dig at Bobby; I just meant to give him a name check in case he missed it
The post used was good constructive feedback too.
