  • Directional Plane/Disc Light

I have a problem with plane or disc lights with stronger directionality seen through glass.

Since Vray Next lights dont get dimmed when viewed from wider angles.
    Except seen throught refractive materials.
This can get a bit problematic - in my case a light seen partially through an open glass door.

Is this a bug or is it intended to work this way?
    any workarounds?

This is a known issue, which has already been forwarded to our developers and is on their to-do lists.
A simple workaround that might be of use is to make the light invisible and place a plane with a VRayLightMtl just behind the VRayLight. Or set an object ID to the VRayLight so as to create a mask via the VRayObjectID pass and afterward whiten the light in post-production.

Aleksandar, do you think it'd be possible to add a feature to the vray light where you could specify a texture to be used for the visible render of the light and how it reflects, but a simple colour for the diffuse / gi light casting and specular, for speed and graininess of sampling reasons?
